Current or aspiring teachers of AS or A level Further Mathematics may be interested in our sustained professional development course, Teaching Further Mathematics 1 (TFM1). The course will aid teachers in developing both their subject knowledge and their classroom practice, enabling lessons to be delivered to students more effectively. The course covers at least the pure material that is common to all AS Further Mathematics specifications.
TFM1 will run from July 2020 until January 2021 and covers topics such as Complex numbers, Proof by induction, and Hyperbolic functions. The course will provide participants with:
- ten live online tutorials
- two study days
- relevant textbooks
- access to online teaching and learning resources
- email support from a tutor
- and access to an online forum.
For TFM1 autumn 2020 we are waiving our usual course fee and reimbursement arrangement so that this course is free of charge to teachers working in state-funded schools and colleges in England. For others the course fee for TFM1 is £300. Schools and colleges located within Priority Areas are eligible to receive a subsidy of £250 per study day.
